Center Stage Challenge

This is a design for my own contest, since I felt very inspired by the challenge.

The challenge was to redesign an outfit from any movie and make it your own, but still keeping elements of the original, linking the two.
I chose an outfit from one of my favorite movies.. Anna and the King. The costumes are so amazing I couldn't resist.

For the very first time I decided to try my hand at digital painting, trying something a bit softer, playing with shading and texture a little.
I'm verry proud of this actually..took me about 24 hours all in all to do.

I wanted to give the outfit an oriental feel and the combination of the shape of the pants, the draping and the pattern achieved this quite well I believe.
Fabrics would be some raw silk(shantung silk maybe) for the pants and jacket, a base of light colored raw silk for the corset, embroidered lace over it. Gold and pearl buttons.

I also added detail shots on the sides so you can have a closer look.
